Sharks get:
- Martin Kaut - 2018 first-round pick that hasn't panned out yet
- Jacob MacDonald - AHL-level defenseman

Conclusion: Net-Zero improvement. In a rebuild, a trade must yield draft picks.

The only players who are going to bring more than a bag of hockey pucks are Karlsson, Couture, Hertl and Meier. The future is a long way off for the Sharks, so there's no point to retaining any of them for another year, month or day. The Sharks can only hope some on-the-fringe team makes an unbalanced deal in the Sharks' favor. That would certainly be a shocking change to the Sharks' history.

You are so right. Even if they get a 3rd or 4th or anything.
